A life well lived.... dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Jewel (Slaughter, Vincent) Reynolds

December 15, 1926 ~ April 7, 2025

Jewel (Slaughter, Vincent) Reynolds of Boise, Idaho and Mesa, AZ, age 98, passed away on April 7, 2025 in Chandler, AZ.

Jewel was born on Dec 15, 1926 in Reward, Kern County, California to Leslie and Lucile Johnson Slaughter. She moved, at age 4, to Ventura, California with her parents and older sisters Jeanne Lenhart and Nanon Bixler. Her education included Ventura Junior High School, graduating from Ventura High School in June, 1944. While waiting for her fiancé, Bob Vincent, who served with the Navy SeaBees in Okinawa, she obtained an AA from Ventura Junior College on 6 June, 1946. Following the end of World War II, Jewel married Robert H. Vincent on 9 February, 1947 in Ventura, California where they lived for 1 ½ years. They then moved to Boise, Idaho for Bob’s work in construction , where she worked for Prudential Life Insurance Co. Three children were born to them in Boise: Gloria, Kirk and Bobbie.

As an active volunteer in the Boise community, Jewel lead Brownie/Girl Scout troops, for both her daughters for 11 years; served on various committees as a Charter Member of Southminster United Presbyterian Church, including arranging flowers for the church pulpit over many decades.  She was elected to the session at Southminister, working diligently on membership, and on beautifying the building on the Decorative Arts Committee. She was the contact person for the Memorials and Special Gifts program and served as follow up chair on the first finance campaign for the new building. She served as Treasurer and chair of circle groups. She also assisted with interior design for Bob’s General Contractor business. For several years Jewel was a member of Boise’s Commission on Senior Housing, which built and administered high rise apartment buildings for low income elderly people in Boise. Following Bob’s death in an airplane accident, she served as a volunteer at St. Alphonsus hospital. She was a behind- the- scenes supporter of family, friends and organizations.

She and Bob were married for 24 years prior to his death on 6 June, 1971. In February 1979, Jewel married George R. Reynolds, long time acquaintance at Southminster United Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed 22 years together traveling, snow-birding to and from Mesa, Arizona, volunteering at church. Together they supported the development of the first owner-occupied mobile home park in southern Arizona near Apache Junction, AZ. While traveling to and from Boise-Mesa, they were frequent visitors of family/friends in the mid-west and throughout California and Oregon.

Jewel was a remarkable woman- always supportive, kind, thinking about others and helping people behind the scenes. She impacted everyone she touched with a positive attitude and calmness. Her sense of humor was present until the end of her life as well as her love of family & friends.  She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her children: Gloria Blanchard (Portland, OR), Kirk Vincent (Boulder, Colorado) and Bobbie (Blas) Telleria (Maricopa, AZ & Missoula, MT). Surviving grandchildren are: Blas Telleria, Jr, Jessica Telleria, Brian Telleria, Matt Telleria; Ryan Blanchard, Alan Blanchard, Heather Blanchard Brown (Derek), Meghan Blanchard Figueroa (Abe). Thirteen great grandchildren: Isaiah Telleria, Elias Telleria, Tilman Telleria, Solomon Telleria, Jasper Telleria; Taylor Blanchard, Morgan Blanchard, Kai Blanchard, Landon Blanchard, Alyssia Brown, Bae Brown, Elijah Figueroa and Ariella Figueroa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
