Margaret Aline Davis Mathis, 92 of Umatilla, Florida, passed away on April 9th, 2025 at Cornerstone Mike Conley Hospice House. Her daughter was by her side when she peacefully passed to her heavenly home.

Margaret was born in Nashville, Georgia to Roy and Viola Davis on June 24. 1932. She graduated from Nashville High School in May of 1949. On November 20th of that same year, she married Mack B. Mathis, Jr. at his parent’s home in Lakeland, Georgia. She worked in various bookkeeping and clerical jobs and even as an office nurse before moving to St. Augustine, Florida in 1966. There she found her dream job with Barnett Bank and obtained the Bank Public Relations and Marketing Certificate from Florida Junior College in 1975. Margaret enjoyed fishing, traveling and was an accomplished seamstress and cook.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy F. and Viola Griner Davis, her husband of 59 years, Mack B Mathis Jr, her only sibling Roy Kenneth Davis and his wife Jeannette, her niece, Sheila Ann Guthrie and many favorite cousins and relatives.

Margaret is survived by her four children, sons Col. Mack Franklin Mathis, SJCSO (retired) (Sheri), Jeffrey Michael Mathis, Mack Briggs Mathis III (Lisa) all of Chiefland, Florida and daughter Susan Mathis Hand (Steve) of Umatilla, Florida. Margaret was blessed with 12 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great, Great Grands.

Graveside services will be held at Riverside Baptist Church in Berrien County, Georgia on Tuesday, April 15th at 1:00pm. Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, Ocala, Florida.
