Joan, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully in hospice care on April 10, 2025, at the age of 91.  Born on August 28, 1933, in the Bronx, New York, to Edward and Helen Lippner. 

Our family finds comfort and grace that she would pass on the day of her husband's Yahrzeit. We believe that she was lovingly escorted by him to rest in peace and light. 

 Joan was the beloved wife of Herman for 60 wonderful years, a cherished sister to David (Camille), and a devoted mother to Lisa (Robert) and Beth (John). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Taylor, Rachel, Morgan, and Ali. 

 She earned her Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Ithaca College in New York and went on to teach in the Long Island Public Schools.  

Joan had a deep love for her family, enjoyed peaceful walks in the Florida sunshine, a lifelong passion for education, and never turned down a scoop of butter pecan ice cream.

She will be laid to rest alongside the love of her life, Herman, at Arlington National Cemetery.
