Deborah Lynn Burton

Deborah L. Burton, age 70, passed away on April 6, 2025. Born on February 26, 1955, Deborah was affectionately known to everyone, as “Debbie.”  Debbie lived a life full of warmth, creativity, and love for her family. 

She dedicated 26 years of service to Walmart, where she was known for her hard work, kindness, and integrity. Outside of work, Debbie enjoyed arts and crafts, traveling, and cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren. 

Debbie’s favorite scripture was Psalm 23: 

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. 

Debbie is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, James R. Burton; their children, Laura Alexander, Carrie Ann Carson, and Peggy Sheldon (Joseph Sheldon); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald N. Erskine; mother, Georgia M. Allen; stepmother, Wilma McKinney; stepfather, Doyle McKinney; sister, Cindy I. Allen; father-in-law, James F. Burton; mother-in-law, Peggy Jo Burton; Christopher J. Burton; and grandson, Robert Kahlig. 

A memorial service celebrating Debbie’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at The Springs Funeral Services, located at 4310 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
