Dennis Velenchenko
August 6th, 1946 - March 30th, 2025
Dennis M. Velenchenko, 78, passed away on March 30, 2025 in Denver, Colorado. He was born on August 6,1946, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Finice and Mary Velenchenko, living a life full of adventure. Growing up on a farm near Manning, North Dakota, he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors that would stay with him throughout his life.
After graduating from Killdeer High School in 1964, Dennis pursued a higher education at Dickinson State University, where he earned a degree in business. Following graduation from college, Dennis enlisted in the Air Force, proudly serving his country at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska.
Seeking to escape the harsh North Dakota winters, Dennis relocated to Denver, Colorado, where he began a fulfilling 30-year career with the United States Postal Service, ultimately retiring in 2003. His time in Denver was marked by a deep love for sports and fitness. A dedicated marathon runner, Dennis participated in numerous marathons across Colorado and beyond, showcasing his commitment to health and endurance. He was also a passionate fan of the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Rockies, often sharing his enthusiasm for these teams with friends and family.
An avid cyclist, Dennis often remarked that his bicycles had more miles that his cars, reflecting his love for exploring the beautiful landscapes of Colorado on two wheels.
Dennis is survived by his siblings: Delbert (Arline) Velenchenko, Darlene (Ralph) Jose, and Douglas (Judy) Velenchenko, and his sister-in-law Marcia Velenchenko. He leaves behind a cherished family, including many cousins, nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces, who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale Velenchenko, sister-in-law Linda Velenchenko, nephew Rodd Jose, and great nephew Colton Jose.
