She is number four of eight born to Alfred and Josie Burton Woodruff. Marie is now with the Lord, her parents, siblings and her niece. Siblings: Wanda Woodruff, Alfred Jr Woodruff, Onita Woodruff, Juanita Woodruff, and her baby brother, Joe Woodruff and her niece, Jasmin Pellum. She is survived by her two children, Alexis Everett and Marvin Henderson. Her two grandchildren, Nicodemus Reef Everett and Soren Rip Everett. Her two youngest sisters, Judy Ann Martin and Irma Jean Pellum. Her beautiful nieces, Michelle Irving, Latonia Simmons, and Wanda Woodruff. Loving nephews Lamar Woodruff, Frank James, Leon Jordan, Joe Woodruff Jr, Terence Pellum and Thomas Woodruff. And she was an amazing loving Auntie to all of their children.

Marie attended MPC where she received her BA in Child Development, she held two positions at Interim as a cook and a peer counselor. In her younger years, Marie lived in Germany and was stationed to different parts of the country being she was in a military family. Her father was stationed to Fort Ord, Ca in the late 60’s and she grew up in Seaside with her family. She graduated from Monterey High School and was an excellent student. She was a backup singer for the band Welfare in the 70’s, singing and performing was a true passion of hers. She loved her family and made sure everyone stayed connected and cared for.

Marie will be missed by all her friends, family, her church community, colleagues at Interim, and the kind nurses, VNA’s and staff at Windsor Hospital in Monterey. To whom we are grateful they extended their love to her the past several years and in her last days. She was loved by so many. Rest in peace sweet, beautiful Marie.

Healey Mortuary

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
