YOU WILL BE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

No words can explain our sorrow as our beloved Alfredo Ragual Nino, born on April 22, 1944, 80 years old, peacefully joined our Creator on March 27, 2025. Alfredo fondly called as “Pidong” or “Fred” was a loving son to Adriano Agliam Nino and Maria Baguindoc Ragual; sweet brother to RufIna Nino Sado(Jose Sado) and Erlinda Nino Yasay(Petronio Yasay, Sr.) He spent most of his life with his wife, Gloria Tabuli Nino for happy almost 52 years. They were blessed with four daughters: Evangeline “Vangie”(Vener Silao), Margie(Jon Alumpe), Minerva “Minnie”(Robert Pacolor) and Gemma(Jaylord Fernando). He was most proud of his nine grandchildren: Kianna and Kian; Jonmark and Jonika Mae; Lyka (Junior), Kyla and Jobert; Jolo and Jayke; and his first great grandchild Kurt. He has always been grateful being loved and surrounded by numerous nephews, nieces, friends and other relatives.

Alfredo was a native of Sta. Rita, Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. At a young age, he worked abroad in Sabah, Malaysia to support himself and family. He went back to the Philippines when his father passed away. Growing up, he had a horse that he took care and love to ride. He was also known as a dependable driver. He owned one of the first jeepneys in our community. He named his jeepney “Fredelin”. People say that he was known as a safe driver that passengers would wait just to ride in his jeepney. He used to be a good auto mechanic. Most guys that wanted to learn how to drive and fix cars would go to him.  When maintaining his jeepney became a challenge, he sold it and decided to manage the farm that he inherited from his parents. He grew different crops, maintained tilapia fishpond and just love to domesticate animals for personal consumption. He always made sure that the food at the table was mostly organic. He is a good provider. He treated his wife like a queen. He is not outspoken but when he says something, he means well. He was a very strict father, made sure that all children became successful in their chosen careers. He helped took care of his grandchildren.

Alfredo was not only known as a good farmer but also as trusted community leader. He served as a Barangay Kagawad in the community for a long time and helped developed the community. He has helped a lot of community people resolve conflicts. He was the go-to of a lot of people seeking help of all kinds. He enjoyed helping others.

In May 2010, Alfredo, together with wife, Gloria, moved to Salinas, CA to live with his eldest daughter, Vangie and her family. He was happy that he can drive for his grandchildren, Kianna and Kian to and from school. His love for farming continued as he grew different vegetables and fruit trees at Vangie’s backyard. He did the same thing at Margie’s backyard when they visited Hawaii several times. He loved sharing all those vegetables to friends and family. Watching boxing and basketball during his past time became a habit. He likes listening to Ilocano music. His grandchildren actually can memorize some of his favorite Ilocano songs in his playlist while driving for them. He was a jolly “Lolo” /” Tatang” to all his grandchildren. He has a unique sense of humor. He always made sure that the people around him is comfortable with his presence. Alfredo will always be remembered as a kind, generous, loving, and responsible person. Our Tata will always be forever in our hearts.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
