January 18th, 1936 - April 6th, 2025
Margareta Rosa Skinner, beloved mom and oma, passed away at her home of 52 years on April 6, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born in Dittelbrunn, Germany to Michael and Cacilie (Gopfert) Spath on January 18, 1936. As fate would have it, the young beauty met a handsome U.S. Army soldier and they married on April 16, 1959.
Margareta was the perfect military wife, always ready for a new adventure when duty called. She was the most amazing cook and exceptional seamstress. She was always the happiest in her sewing room. She loved to garden and sit on her back porch, watching the birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert F Skinner; sons, Johann and David Nelson; a sister, Elfriede Damm; brother, Alois Spath; and her sweet dog, Missy.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Joann (Kenneth) Quintana and Debbie (Randy) Grismore; five grandchildren, Keith Quintana, Shay Quintana, Raeli Quintana, Marissa Grismore and Nathan Grismore, all of Colorado Springs. Also left to cherish her memory are 6 great-grandchildren; her sister, Sonja Myers; many nieces and nephews, both in the U.S. and Germany; and so many others that lovingly called her “Oma”.
