Pamela "Pam" Ariana Gaynor

Pam Gaynor was born in Russellville, KY. She died at home in Hospice Care on December 16, 2019 from kidney cancer. She was happily surprised to reach her 80th year. As the smartest kid in her class she went on to receive a PhD in Psychology at the University of Chicago and spent ten years in academia. She taught at the University ofIllinois Medical Center; was an associate professor at CSU where she started thePsych of Women class; and taught at an alternative school, William James College in Michigan. Leaving academia, she founded the Centennial Center for Human Services in Fort Collins where she had a successful psychotherapy practice for many years. Pam was an intrepid Colorado mountain woman. She loved her "magic land” in Buckhorn Canyon where she slept in a tipi. Her cherished primary residence for 35 years was in beautiful Poudre Canyon. There she raised chickens, an abundant vegetable garden and cultivated colorful flowers of all kinds. Her mountain life kept her strong and offered ample inspiration for creative pursuits including gardening and flower photography. Two of her photographs won national awards. She will be greatly missed by her beloved partner of 38 years, Judy Underwood, her step-daughter Danya Rivlin, Danya’s husband Eyal and their daughters Mia and Ella.
