Lifelong Amsterdam resident Samuel F. Greco, 76, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Sam was born on December 12, 1948, to the late Augustine and Clara (Karp) Greco. He graduated from Amsterdam High School and afterwards was drafted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and returned to Amsterdam to work as a Parts Clerk at his father’s auto parts store, Auggie’s Auto Parts.
He enjoyed word searches, fishing, and bowling. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Augustine and Clara Greco; stepmother Amy Greco; brother Joseph Greco; and niece Jennifer Greco.
Samuel is survived by his sister Gina (Eric) Yesse; nephews Todd (Diana) Greco, Jeremy (Rachel) Greco, Bobby Yesse, Billy (Cassandra) Yesse, and Nicholas (Alana) Yesse; niece Amelia (Steven) Burke; great nephews Terrence and Sebastian Greco; great nieces Emma Greco, along with Sophia and Isabella Yesse who loved their “Gus”; as well as many cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 3pm to 4pm at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. A service of remembrance will be held at 4pm with Reverend John Califano officiating. A graveside service will take place on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 10:30am at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam.
