Kristina "Kris" Taylor
July 24th, 1946 - March 29th, 2025
Kristina, lovingly called ‘Krissy’ by her husband David, and known amongst her friends as Kris, is survived by her husband, two children: Graham and Kathryn, stepchildren: Cindy, David, and Emily, and grandchildren.
The world was blessed when Kris was born in Ilmenau, Germany on July 24, 1946. She came to the United States in 1953 from Germany with her parents, Gertrude and George Schroeder. She grew up with a passion for riding horses and showing dogs.
After receiving her bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, Kris found a job working at Ciba Geigy in the 1970’s as a lab technician where she eventually met her husband.
Kris found herself drawn towards raising the kids. She had a knack for making every meal homemade, learning from Julia Childs and eventually collecting all the Bon Appetit magazines. Kris had a passion for growing orchids and maintained a beautiful greenhouse both in Ann Arbor, MI and in Franktown, CO. She enjoyed landscaping and gardening with her husband, spending many hours outside enjoying the fresh air with him and the kids.
Kris had an affinity for running and swimming. Every morning she would go for a run and if that couldn’t happen, she would head out for a walk with the dog. She loved the summer family vacations in Cape Cod and spending countless hours in the ocean boogie boarding, eating seafood and whale watching. She also loved swimming laps when the swim club was open during the summer.
After the kids had grown up, Kris started her own business in Ann Arbor, MI with the motto “pet care when you can’t be there”. She continued her philanthropy in Colorado volunteering at the Denver Orchid Society and the Double T Stables for therapeutic horseback riding.
Kris, better known as Mom to us, will always be remembered for her gorgeous smile, loving nature, kindness and willingness to always make others happy.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
