April S Marsillo
April 5th, 1956 - April 2nd, 2025
She was often the center of attention by telling jokes, rapping and dancing....
April Stanley Marsillo age 68 of University Place, WA passed away on April 2, 2025. She was born on April 5, 1956 in the bustling village town of Furstenfeldbruck, Germany on a US Air force base. As a young girl her family moved extensively residing on or near several air force bases across the country. After graduation from Franklin Pierce HS (’74) she was hired at Earristable Jewelry stores, first in sales and later as the area manager supervising operations at The Tacoma Mall and four other locations in the Puget Sound corridor. After starting her family in 1982 April returned to the work force in 1993 as a flight attendant at Alaska Airlines. This was her dream job, eventually moving into the Inflight office as an Administrative Assistant. There she greeted, oriented, and supported flight attendants prior to their departures. Each day she met her coworkers with a smile and assured them that all their needs would be met. She knew if they left the office in a positive frame of mind they would better serve passengers while in flight. These attributes contributed significantly to the culture at Alaska for the following two decades.
In the years that followed April (and Mario) traveled to most US costal states and internationally to Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. She enjoyed meeting new people and experiencing other cultures. April’s favorite landing spot was Maui, Hawaii where they purchased a condo with educator friends in 1997. This destination became an annual trek during her birthday month. Yes, every day in April was her birthday and she expected others to send cards, make telephone calls or come to stay for an island visit. April was all about having fun and some of her fondest memories were with Mario’s slow pitch baseball team, Garden Club friends, and monthly dinner club socials. April loved to dance and took lessons at Keller’s Dance Studio in Parkland. Shortly thereafter she performed at various venues in the south sound area including First Night off Broadway on New Year’s Eve. She was often the center of attention by telling jokes, rapping and dancing at the annual Alaska Airlines Talent Show and Jr. League Follies fund raisers.
Her grandchildren were everything! Great grand - Evelyn (2), Grand - Carmi (2), Santino (2), Jayce (8), Mario (10), Olivia (14) and Lillyan (21). She laughed louder in their presence and was always there to serve them the requested meal, attend school or sporting events.
April had a big heart and always had a kind word for others. Her strong ethics of: Always do good for others and this earth will be remembered!
April is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 46 yrs. Mario F. Marsillo; Son’s Mario C. Marsillo (Denay) and Cameron Marsillo, (Jacqui); Siblings Sue Curran (John - Pittsburgh, PA); Jim Sweeney, (Julie - Marysville, WA), Pam Grote, (deceased Bob -Vancouver, WA); Mary Reichman, (Tom - Coto de Caza, CA); Amanda Tucci, (Gary - Puyallup, WA); David Stanley, (Tacoma, WA); Sister in laws, Josie Harke, (Paul Kutler - Los Altos, WA); Carmie Marsillo, (deceased Nick Rosetto, Tacoma, WA); Mary Ellener, (Ray - Tacoma, WA) and numerous nieces and nephews.
