“The ones who love us never really leave us, you can always find them in here.” -Sirius Black, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban

Teresa Moreland, Mother, sister and best friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, in Portland, Oregon, after a brief but courageous battle with advanced-stage cancer. She was 59 years old and surrounded by love in her final moments.

Born on September 18, 1965, in Portland to Mary Thornton and Micheal Gollehon, Teresa was one of nine siblings and spent most of her life in Northeast Portland. She attended Irvington Elementary, Fernwood, and Grant High School before earning an Associate of Arts degree in records management from Portland Community College.

Teresa dedicated 38 years of service to Stoel Rives, where she held various roles, primarily in records management. Her commitment, professionalism, and sunny demeanor left a lasting impression on her colleagues.

While living in the Irvington neighborhood, Teresa met and later married Casey Moreland. Together they welcomed their daughter Emily. With their large extended families, holidays and gatherings were lively and cherished occasions. Teresa thrived in these moments—always eager to host or attend, bringing her spirited presence to every event.

She found joy in Christmas celebrations, her pets, beach visits, movies, flowers, and time spent with loved ones. Teresa’s warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Her welcoming nature and generous heart made her a light in the lives of many.

She is survived by her daughter Emily and son-in-law Victor; and her siblings Dylan, Shelia, Sonia, Helena, Debbie, and Diana.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m. at The Madeleine Church in Northeast Portland on the corner of NE 24th and Siskiyou. In keeping with Teresa’s wishes, attendees are encouraged to wear bright, beautiful colors—Teresa stated she would like the women to wear large colorful hats if possible. A reception will follow at the home of Tessie and Kevin Healey. Details given at the service.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
