Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11:25-26 (KJV)

In loving memory of Dulciebai M. George, who graced this world with her warmth and kindness from October 26, 1944, until her peaceful passing on April 14, 2025.

Dulcie was a devoted wife to her late husband, Yesudian B. T. George. As a loving mother and grandmother, Dulcie cherished her role within her family. She is survived by her daughters: Ellen and her husband Earle, Linda and her husband Rich, Jeba and her husband Dave, and Pauline and her husband Dave. Her grandchildren, Natalie, Sophie, Katie, and Alex, were the lights of her life.

She was also deeply loved by her late parents and siblings, Mercy and Solomon Devairkkam, her brothers James and Jesudason, and her sister Lilly.  She is survived by her sister  Glory and brother in law, Chrishantha and their children, Rachel and Jason, her sister-in-law Rani, and son Dinesh and his family, and Dulcie’s nieces Joyce, Morin, Angie and Christina and their families. Dulcie left behind numerous loving sister and brother in-laws including Florence and Jones Issac, nieces, nephews, and cousins who mourn her passing.

Dulcie’s journey to the United States began in 1972 when she moved from Sri Lanka. With her desire for a better life for her family and an incredible work ethic, she built a successful career as an accountant, working for METRO in Washington, D.C., and later with SEPTA in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, until her retirement in 2007. She enjoyed working and had wonderful relationships with her colleagues.

Dulcie found happiness and joy in many things. She was an avid gardener with a love for nurturing plants which she shared with others. She enjoyed traveling to various locations—from the holy lands of Israel to many cities and states across the United States. Her cooking skills were remarkable; she was celebrated for her delicious meals that often brought family and friends together.  She showed her love through her food and will be remembered for her hospitality.

Throughout her life, Dulcie exemplified the essence of selflessness. First and foremost, she always thought of God and lived her life as a testament to His love and grace. Her faith guided her actions, and she made it a priority to ensure that everyone around her felt the warmth of His blessings.

Described by all who knew her as warm, caring, and generous, Dulcie was a beacon of faith. Her life revolved around her love for God, which inspired her to share her gifts with others, especially those in need. Her faith was evident in her daily life, as she devoted much of her time to serving her church community and nurturing her spiritual connections through prayer, reading scriptures and worship.

The services to celebrate Dulcie’s extraordinary life will be held on Saturday, April 26th, at the New Testament Church, located at 400 Butternut St. NW, Washington, D.C. Family viewing will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by a service at 10:00 AM. All are invited to join in a luncheon that will immediately follow the service, continuing the celebration of her life surrounded by friends and family.

Dulcie’s life was a shining example of loving compassion, and while she has departed from this world, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May her spirit continue to guide us, and may we honor her memory by living our lives with the same kindness, generosity, and love she so freely shared.
