Ann “Nancy” McGovern (nee McGuinness), 87, of Mantua, NJ, born and raised in Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 11, 2025, surrounded by her daughters. 

 

Legacy

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, aunt, wife, and friend. Her hobbies included cooking ethnic foods, jewelry making, and painting. She loved to collect cookbooks and jewelry and had at one point a collection of over 500 cookbooks.  After High School, she began her career in data processing, working her way up to Computer Programmer, learning both while on the job and going to night classes at St. Peters College.  Traveling all around the world was another passion of Nancy’s and among the places she had visited were Europe, Canada, Mexico, Belize, Africa and China.

 

Family

She is the beloved wife of the late E. Gerard "Gerry" McGovern.  Devoted mother of Rosemarie Harrison (Julian), Donna Oates (James), and Denise Oates.  Stepmother of Karen (Peter) and Marcie.  Adored grandmother of Christian (Ayla), Kyle (Tawny), Kathryn, and Brianna. Predeceased by her parents Margaret and Thomas McGuinness and her dear sister Rosemary.  She will be deeply missed, but her spirit, strength, and creativity will continue to inspire her loving family. 

 

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, April 24th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the McGuinness Funeral Home (Woodbury Location) 34 Hunter Street Woodbury, NJ 08096. Funeral Mass on Friday, April 25th at 11:00AM in the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit 17 Earlington Avenue, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062.  Entombment to follow in All Saints Cemetery Franklinville, New Jersey.
