It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Fred V. Smith Jr, who departed this life on April 19, 2025, at the age of 82, at his home in Three Rivers with his family by his side. Born on August 19, 1942, in Randolph, VT, Fred was a cherished husband, devoted father, beloved grandfather and great grandfather. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Fred Sr. and Marjorie (Copeland) Smith, and his brother Wayne Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Susan A. (Therrien) Smith and leaves behind a legacy through his children: Annette Coyer & Paul, Julie Sullivan & Mike, Fred III & Shelley, Michelle Biron & Joe, and Debra Wrobel & Mark.  Additionally, he is survived by his siblings: Sandra Rillings, James Smith, and Penny Griffin, along with grandchildren, Nicholas, Samantha, Fred IV, Jacob, Megan, Damien, and Susan and great-grandchildren, Leilani and Keoni who brought him endless joy. Fred's career as a truck driver spanned over 50 years.  Fred was a member of the Sons of Amvets.   Beyond his professional life, Fred enjoyed  farming, hunting, and fishing and his time at his camp in Vermont creating countless cherished memories for his family. Fred was also affectionately known as "Mr. Fix It," always ready to lend a helping hand with his mechanical skills and handyman abilities. Fred was an avid NASCAR and Football fan and loved his barn and animals as well as tinkering in his garage. His thousands of stories and limericks will forever be with his family.In honor of Fred’s life and the love he shared, a visitation will be held on April 29, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by a service commencing at 12 PM.  Donations in his memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
