Joan M Giard (Champagne), 85, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, April 16th at 16 Acres Health Center. Born in Springfield, MA on June 21, 1939, she was the daughter of Henry and Rita Champagne. Joan and her predeceased husband Paul of 55 years, resided in East Springfield for many years, relocating to Brimfield in 1999. She was employed by Big Y Supermarkets and the Springfield School System before retiring in 2015. She will be deeply missed by her three children, Paul Jr. and his wife Tamra of Plymouth, MA, Steven and his wife Dianne of Westfield, and Michelle Zanardi and her husband Bryan of Brimfield, along with her two grandchildren, Victor and his wife Eve, and Franco. Her sisters Jean Cowles of Wilbraham, MA, Donna Weeks of Longs, SC, brother Henry Champagne of Myrtle Beach, SC, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her sister Amy Bissonette of Springfield, MA. All services are private and Beers & Story Palmer Funeral home has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Bethany Charismatic Church, 167 Dunhamtown-Palmer Road, Brimfield, MA 01010.
