February 13th, 1936 - April 19th, 2025
Betty Lou Walker, of Summerfield, FL, passed away on April 19, 2025, at the age of 89. Betty was born to Clyde, and Chleo Armstrong in St. Charles, Iowa.Betty worked in Humann Resources at the Bon Ton department store in Pennsylvania for several years.Some of her interests included watching "The Young & The Restless" soap on tv. She loved sending greeting cards and would spend hours selecting the right cards and always with an appropriate sticker for each person. She and her husband Bill traveled to all 50 states including Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Many trips were on their Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Betty loved her life at Del Webb Spruce Creek Country Club. Over the years, she volunteered at many of her favorite clubs- Bingo, Canasta, Kitchen Club, Travel Club, Tea Quila Rose (Tea Club) and the Senior Games. She was a member of the HOA Entertainment Commitee. Playing cards was a major enjoyment of her retired years.Betty is survived by her loving husband Bill of 67 years, daughter Wendy Walker (Tate) Haymond of Cumming, GA; son David Walker of Katy, TX; three grandchildren, Kelsey Nocar, and Sydney, and Walker Haymond. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May2 from 10:00am- 12:00pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services 3975 Wedgewood Ln. The Villages, FL 32162.In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org)Sentiments may be left at www.hiers-baxley.com
