Sondra Lee Saunders

Sondra Lee Saunders of Colorado Springs, CO passed away peacefully in her home on March 31, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on May 29, 1940, in Long Beach, California, to B.R. McNulty and Juanita Alice Gover, Sondra lived a life rich in family, travel and creative expression.She is survived by her children, Kevin Saunders (Maria), Lisa Turner (Craig), and Kassi Matthews (David), ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, who will cherish the memories of her love and support. She was predeceased by her brother, Scott.Sondra's life was a testament to her adventurous spirit. She called many places home, from Arizona and Texas to the mountains of Colorado and Montana, while also finding a deep connection with the life and waters of the Bahamas. Life on a boat held a special place in her heart; the ocean was her sanctuary, her happy place. She treasured the bonds she formed with her “boat family."Beyond her love for travel and the ocean, Sondra possessed a remarkable artistic talent. She found joy in painting, creating stained glass pieces and crafting Diamond art pictures. Her artwork was a reflection of her vibrant personality and eye for beauty. She also held a deep compassion for animals. Her home was often a haven for a variety of beloved pets, from cats, dogs, horses and birds to a rescued raccoon and even a ferret and baby skunk.Sondra will be remembered not only for her love of family and artistic talents, but also for her kind heart. She was a true friend, always there for you with compassion and support. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her treasured family and friends. As per Sondra’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to any animal rescue or sanctuary in her memory would provide care and support to the animals she dearly loved.
