Michael Mazzeo passed away on April 14, 2025, due to complications from Fabry disease. He was born on April 4, 1953 and was 72 years old. Born in Albany, NY, Mike spent most of his life in his hometown before retiring to Naples, Florida, in 2012. He also cherished his summers in Brant Lake and Gloversville, NY—Brant Lake was especially full of meaning for him. Mike graduated from Cardinal McCloskey High School and SUNY Albany. He spent his career of over 30 years in Information Technology for the State of New York, working at the Department of Social Services and the Higher Education Services Corporation before retiring in 2009.

Mike had a deep love for the Adirondacks and was especially proud of the cabin he built in Brant Lake. It became a place of peace, laughter, and connection—a gathering spot for family and friends, and where he was truly happiest.

He was also an avid golfer, enjoying rounds in Naples with his close friend Wes Seaman and many others, and in Caroga Lake at Nick Stoner’s with his dear friend John Poling. If he wasn’t on the course, there was a good chance he was making a run to Costco—always prepared. Michael also loved summers betting the horses at the Saratoga Race Course.

Above all, Mike loved his wife, Donna. They shared a deep bond. Michael married Donna Scocco on November 11, 1992 in Las Vegas. His children, Michaela (Nicholas Bujnowski) Mazzeo and John Lauterbach, were his greatest pride and joy.

Mike is also survived by his mother-in-law, Geri Scocco; his brother-in-law Pete (Crystal) Scocco; sister-in-law Pam Mazzeo; niece Jennifer Mazzeo; nephew Christopher (Jodi) Mazzeo; and many cousins. He also leaves behind his devoted dog, Mia.

He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Theresa Christopher Mazzeo; his brother Anthony Mazzeo; his father-in-law Ben Scocco and his close friend, John Scala.

Michael’s funeral arrangements are being handled by Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m., with a service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
