Frances “Fran” McArthur (née Evett), age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Easter Sunday April 20, 2025, in Brandon, Florida. Born on September 1, 1940, in Kenly, North Carolina, Fran lived a life rooted in faith, love, and unwavering grace.

A proud graduate of Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, North Carolina, Fran earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Art. Her passion for learning and teaching was evident throughout her life—not only in the classroom but also in the way she approached each day with curiosity and compassion. She believed that every day offered an opportunity to grow and connect more deeply with others

Fran was a devoted child of God whose faith guided her every step. Her spiritual life was not confined to Sunday mornings; it radiated through her daily actions and interactions. As an active and loving member of her church community, she offered comfort and encouragement to all who crossed her path. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and welcome—open to anyone seeking kindness or simply a heartfelt hug.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Ron who she felt blessed to know for 68 memorable beautiful years beginning as high school sweethearts. Married for 62 years, they had two daughters Evett Kruka and Virginia McArthur. Also dear to her heart are son-in-law Chris Hanlon; grandchildren Alec Kruka, Kirstin Kruka, Bryce Hanlon, and Bella Hanlon. To them—and to many others—Fran was more than a wife, mother, grandmother, or friend. She was their angel and guiding light.

Known affectionately as the quintessential Southern Belle, Fran carried herself with poise and beauty that lit up every room she entered. Her elegance was matched only by her generosity of spirit. She embraced everyone with open arms and an open heart—earning her the title of “second mom” to many.

Fran found joy in life’s simple pleasures: playing bridge with friends, walking along the beach picking up the perfect collection of seashells, completing her daily crossword puzzle with determination and wit, watching Hallmark movies that mirrored her own gentle spirit, and always—lovingly—taming Ron with humor and patience.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Sun City Center United Methodist Church located at 1971 Haverford Ave., Sun City Center, Florida 33573. An open casket will be available during this time for those wishing to pay their respects. A memorial service will follow immediately from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A reception will take place during the visitation period prior to the service. For those unable to attend in person, a live stream of the service will be made available online at https://boxcast.tv/view/mcarthur-memorial-service-lchkc3uxy6jd55mnw6kn

Fran’s legacy is one of unconditional love, enduring faith, and boundless generosity. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her and continue to inspire lives filled with grace and compassion.
