Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services - Ladson
Eleanor Goodlett Sims
February 25th, 1940 - April 20th, 2025
Eleanor Goodlett Sims, Summerville, S.C.
Eleanor “Ellie” Goodlett Sims, 85, passed away on Easter morning, 20 April 2025, with family at her bedside at Trident Medical Facility.
The Sims family invites all of Eleanor’s friends, Summerville Country Club “family,” Summerville Shag Club “swingers” and anyone wanting to attend her Celebration of Life to join the family at the Candlelite Pavilion at Summerville (Miler) Country Club on Thursday, April 24th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Eleanor Sims was born on February 25, 1940 to Tincy and Helen Goodlett in Greenville, South Carolina, and in 1961 married her High School Sweetheart and love of her life Johnny Sims. Today they are once again together golfing, playing tennis, shagging to coastal swing music, and watching the fun and frolic of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren which brought them both the greatest joy to their lives.
Eleanor was a true Southern Belle and proud Air Force spouse who had a giant heart and loving words to everyone she touched with her soul. She loved to golf, dance, play cards, entertain, cook, drink wine with “the girls,” and shop like no other. No doubt that Chico’s stock tumbled upon hearing of Eleanor’s passing.
Eleanor is survived by her son John N. Sims, Jr.; daughter Cynthia Paige Harkness; daughter-in-law Kathryn Briggs Sims; sisters-in-law Norma Wise and Deluna Hathorne; grandchildren Eric Sims, Kevin Sims, Kristin Sims Roberts, Sarah Harkness, and Dylan Harkness; and six beautiful great-grandchildren Lakelyn, Ruby, Beckham, Isla, Jordyn, and Kohen. Eleanor was predeceased by her brother Thomas Goodlett.
As a wife and mother, she gave her family the greatest gift of all – her unconditional love and understanding of the unwavering strength of family. Undoubtedly, Eleanor’s arrival in Heaven leaves behind a highest standard for love, empathy, and compassion – setting the example for us all to remember and follow.
