Sally Jane Loeffler, formerly of Watertown and Lake Mills, Wisconsin passed away in Green Valley, Arizona on Monday, April 14th 2025.

Sally was born in Janesville, Wisconsin to Don and Gladys Wolfe on February 3rd, 1930.

In 1949, she married Curtis Loeffler and together they had four children. Sally spent most of her life in the role of a homemaker, raising her children and supporting her husband in his career. She loved spending time taking care of her family and home and later in life, raising her beloved golden retrievers, Bouh and Bubbie. If a person crossed her or her family, they would be dealing with a woman who would set them straight. She had the spirit of a warrior and one of her favorite sayings was, “Right is right and wrong is nowhere.” Sally was a most gracious hostess to all who entered her home and she made the best old-fashioned cocktails. She was generous, kind, a natural red-head and had the sweetest smile and beautiful green eyes. Her sense of humor and wit was unmatched and has become part of her legacy.

Sally’s fondest childhood memories were from summers spent on her grandparent’s dairy farm in Northfield, Wisconsin. They were of Norwegian descent with a large family, who  doted on young Sally and her older sister. In Sally’s adult years she enjoyed swimming, golfing, dancing-including the jitter-bug, playing cards, Backgammon, casinos, yardwork, decorating, traveling, cutting her own hair, being with her six grandchildren and she was a huge fan of country singer, Blake Shelton.

In 2024, Sally would move to Green Valley, Arizona to the Silver Springs assisted living community to be closer to her family. It was a big and brave move after having spent an entire lifetime in Wisconsin, living very independently and with good health. Sally left behind in Watertown, two close friends, Dorothy Groth and Barb Berg. She also deeply missed leaving her son-in-law, Russ, who lived only a few miles away. As they say, when one door closes another opens. In Arizona, Sally would have more community around her and meet a special new friend, also by the name of Sally, who would take her under her wing. During her months in the Southwest, she  enjoyed the Arizona skies, Saguaro cactus, pecan groves, Culver’s, going for drives in the desert, and having family visit in recent months.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Curt; her oldest child, Sandra; her sister, Barbara and all of her life-long friends. Certainly, there is a reunion of loved ones welcoming her back to her original home!

Survivors include: daughter, Sheryl Hare of Tuscon, Arizona; son, Don (Linda) Loeffler of Golden, Colorado; daughter, Jackie (Roy) Ferguson of Tubac, Arizona; son-in-law, Russ DeBlare of Watertown, Wisconsin; one grandson, Matthew DeBlare of Portland, Oregon; five granddaughters, Tiffany DeBlare of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Brooke DeBlare of Eagle River, (Fran) DeBlare , Alaska; Haley Ferguson of Seattle, Washington; Kelsey (Maximiliano) Ayala of Seattle, Washington; Ivy (Johnas) Ferguson of Oslo, Norway; and four great-grandchildren; Quentin, Jackson, Izzy, and Hendrix.

A private family service will be held at a later date in the mid-west. Condolences can be expressed online with Desert Sunset Funeral Home in Tuscon. For those wishing to make a gift in Sally’s memory, please consider giving to: the Humane Society of Jefferson County in Jefferson, Wisconsin.
