Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel - Payette
Roxanne Kathryn Obenchain
November 19th, 1929 - April 19th, 2025
Roxanne Kathryn Obenchain, 95 of Nampa, Idaho passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 19, 2025. She is survived by her four children, Dawn Hay (John), Robin Obenchain, Mark Obenchain (Gaye), Peggy Bates (Oliver), six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Roxanne was born in Livingston, Montana, in 1929. The family, along with her big brother, Bill, moved many times over the years and ended up in Boise in 1945. It was there her parents started the Christian Children’s Home where Roxanne joined in with the responsibility and chores that go along with caring for children.
After graduating from Boise High School in 1947, she married Mark Obenchain the day after she turned 18, a requirement placed on the couple by Roxanne’s father. They were happily married for 66 years until Mark passed in 2014.
Along with her own children, Roxanne was mother to many. She and Mark took in two foster children, and also provided a home for a developmentally disabled young man for many years. She was a humble woman with great wisdom and quiet strength.
One of her many gifts was playing the piano, and she faithfully served her church using her talent every Sunday. Her church family was very important to her. She loved Jesus, and was a faithful prayer warrior for her family, her church and wherever she saw the need.
In her later years, she was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles, and crocheted many blankets for her grand babies.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mark Obenchain, son, David Obenchain, parents, Arnold and Eva Kernen, Mark’s parents, Guy and Madeleine Obenchain, brother, Bill Kernen, sisters-in-law Betty Kernen and Neila Obenchain, her brother-in-law Dewey Obenchain, and her nephew Greg Obenchain.
Our family would like to give special thanks to the administration and staff of Streamside Assisted Living in Nampa, and for the expert care she received from the staff at Keystone Hospice.
Rest in Peace, Mama.
