On April 13, 2025, our beloved mother, Maudie (Lucky) Clara Pennington, was called home to be with the Lord. She lived a life in faith, devoted to Christ, and guided by his teachings. Born October 18, 1938 to Maude E Shatto Pennington and Jesse M Pennington in Boise Idaho.
Maudie’s early upbringing was on a small farm in Boise, Idaho and also lived in Star, Idaho. As an adolescent she attended Grade School and Jr. High, she played the Saxophone & bass at school and was involved in church. She also attended International Bible High School in Antonio, Texas. Later attending South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia Washington with an associates and bachelors in studies of Geology and History.
Her proudest family moments were learning what she could from her father, farm work, gardening, history and listening to stories from his childhood. Her proudest career accomplishment was working at Superior Linen and her missionary work in Baja, Co, Mexico, Agua Verde inside the Sea of Cortez, the orphanage in Guatemala and the Tahodo Odham Indians in Arizona. Later going to San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico in 2019 with the missionary team from Highway Worship Center. She was proud of her volunteer work in Washington, Arizona, California and Idaho where she had served as a youth pastor, children’s ministry and other children’s program. Serving God was her #1 priority.
Memories special to her was when she was 3rd runner up in the Ms. Idaho Senior Pageant in 2011. Her favorite songs came from Gospel and County music. Her hobbies included gardening, signing, reading and spreading the word of Jesus. She loved to travel, seeing new places with different cultures, helping others where she could and visiting her children and grandchildren whenever possible.
Maudie was a woman of belief, whose love for the Lord came through in every aspect of her life. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and the trust in God’s plan, with family, friends and even strangers.
As a mother, she raised her children and teaching them to love, to serve, and to trust in Him always. She found comfort in verses such as John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me." and Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” She is now in Heaven, free from pain and sorrow, rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.
Maudie’s children; daughters, Tammy Kendall (Bill) Olympia Washington, Millie Gilbert (Ray) West Monroe Louisiana and a son Shane Marsh (Angela) Pueblo Colorado. As well as five grandchildren, Tiffany, Crystal, Corey, Kelsey and Justin and three great grandchildren, Odin, Zelly and Kaison. She is also remembered with love by her sister, Jewell Wolfe, nieces, nephews, and others she called family in her church and community. Sisters and a bother were ready to welcome her in Heaven, Jessie Alma Pennington, Joan Janet Pennington, and Ernest Lee Pennington.
Two celebrations of her life will be held, one at Highway Worship Center in Fruitland Idaho on April 27, 2025 at 10:15 am (this will include a small church service and go into her celebration of life), the second celebration of life will be in Olympia Washington at Mills & Mills Funeral Home on May 12, 2025 we ask you to join us in the chapel at 1:00pm, private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers Maudie would like for you to give to your church mission fund, which was dear to her heart, or to American Cancer research.
