Leona June Elder
April 24th, 1923 - April 10th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Leona June Elder passed away on April 10, 2025 at the age of 101. She was born in Elk City, Oklahoma to Charley O. Hibbs and Rhoda (Carter) Hibbs. She was the youngest of six siblings. Leona has lived in Salinas for over 80 years.
Leona married Richard W. Elder in 1942. She was known for her lively personality and playful teasing. She was creative, loved gardening, and loved working with her hands. Leona also enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death in 1987 by her husband Richard. She is survived by one son, Richard Elder, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at 1pm at Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Salinas.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
