In Loving Memory

Kernersville – Curtis Whicker Campbell of Kernersville passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the age of 95. She was born May 7, 1929 to Kemp Caswell and Wilhelmina Michael “Bunt” Whicker. She graduated from Kernersville High School in 1947 as Valedictorian and attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro Women’s College. On October 23, 1948 she married Thomas Carl “Bud” Campbell. She worked at Crawford Hosiery Mills and then for Western Electric which later became ATT&T. She worked as a secretary and later as a department chief before retiring in 1984 after 35 years of service. Campbell was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville, attending from age three. She sang in the choir until age 91. Campbell loved her church and shared her faith by serving others in many ways. Additionally, she served faithfully at the Shepherd Center of Kernersville for 40 years, where she was a Board Member Emeritus.

 

She is predeceased by her parents and spouse. She is survived by her two sons Thomas “Tom” Campbell, Jr. of Advance, NC and Bryan Campbell (Debby) of Milton, GA; Grandchildren Nancy Stonehouse, Coley (Jamie) Campbell, Sarah (Brian) Smith, and Leah (Blake) Woods; Great-Grandchildren Lydia and Kemp Stonehouse, Caleb Campbell, Jude, Wyatt, Finn and Evie Ruth Smith, and Norah Grace, Crew and Jett Woods; Sister Judy Osborne.

 

The funeral will be held at Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville, NC at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025. Dr. Alexander Ward, Reverend Lanny Lancaster, Reverend Phil Kuntz, and Reverend Brian Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in church cemetery and visitation will follow in the Commons Area of the church. Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, The Shepherd Center, Arbor Ridge at Kernersville, or the charity of your choice.
