Sandra Kay (Gano) Waide
Sandee Waide passed away peacefully under a clear moonlit spring sky on April 12, 2025, surrounded by the celestial music she so loved. Her journey on earth concluded after 73 years, 11 months, and 22 days, a life filled with the harmonies of faith, family, and a profound devotion to music.
Born April 21, 1951, in Newberg, Oregon, to Gordon Eugene and Rosalie Pauline (Wohlgemuth) Gano, Sandee was the second of three children. She graduated from Newberg High School in 1969 and further cultivated her passion for music at Lutheran Bible Institute (LBI) in Seattle, Washington. This passion, ignited by early piano lessons generously provided by her grandparents, blossomed into a lifelong career.
Following LBI, Sandee dedicated her talents to serving her faith communities as a church organist. She began by substituting at Zion Lutheran Church in Newberg, before accepting a full-time position. For over 20 years, she served as the beloved primary organist at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Tigard, Oregon, enriching the lives of countless congregants with her musical gifts. Beyond her musical ministry, Sandee enjoyed a successful career of over 20 years as Benefits Coordinator at Madden Industrial Craftsman in Beaverton.
On August 18, 1973, Sandee married Jimmie Waide. Their union, though tragically shortened by Jimmie's passing in 1993, left an enduring mark on her life. Later, she found companionship and joy with Vern Bright, sharing 20 years together until his death in 2017.
Sandee is survived by her brother Roger (Debbie) of Dundee, sister Peggy Wilson (Jesse) of Albany, and brother Ken (Karen) of Ellensburg, Washington. She will be dearly missed by her niece Emily Gano Malinowski of Ellensburg, WA, and her great-nephews & niece, Enzo, Axton, and Nova. She also leaves behind many cousins, cherished high school and college friends, along with numerous acquaintances formed through her work and church affiliations. While she had no children of her own, her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many whom she considered family.
Her legacy of faith, music, and unwavering kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sandee’s name to the music program at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 13401 SW Benish Street, Tigard, OR 97223.
