Juan Sanchez

JUAN SANCHEZ , age 77, a resident of Lyden, gained his wings, April 24, 2025. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Meloney Sanchez, his son, Juan DeJesus Sanchez Jr., his parents Ferdinando Sanchez and Virginia Gallegos-Sanchez, brother, Santiago (Tito) Sanchez and sister-in-law Emma Sanchez. Juan is survived by his daughters, Cecilia Velarde and husband Jose of Ojo Sarco, April Maestas and husband Mario of El Guique; granddaughters, Anna Maria Velarde-Sanchez and Selena Velarde, Alissa and Arianna Maestas; grandsons, Jose Velarde Jr. and Mario Maestas; his brother, Joe Sanchez, as well as many other beloved and cherished family members. Juan loved his family and cherished his grandchildren. He worked for many years at Espanola Transit Mix as a cement mixer truck driver. He enjoyed working on his projects of cars and trucks and found a special joy in woodworking. He was a loving caregiver to his wife, Meloney, through her battle with cancer. He also enjoyed working events as security for the Knights of Columbus for many years where he made lots of friends he was fond of.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Riverside Funeral Home of Santa Fe. A rosary will be recited on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Velarde with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Velarde with the following serving as pallbearers; sons-in-law, Jose Velarde and Mario Maestas and grandchildren, Anna Maria Velarde-Sanchez, Selena Velarde, Alissa Maestas, Jose Velarde Jr., Arianna Maestas and Mario Maestas. The family of Juan Sanchez has entrusted their loved one to Riverside Funeral Home of Santa Fe.
