In Loving Memory

Eric Jackson Easterling, 83, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025.

Born on February 22, 1942, Eric lived a life dedicated to faith, family, and service. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. Following his military service, his life was profoundly guided by the scripture James 1:27: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” Eric embodied this principle through his compassionate nature and active involvement in his community.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, William and Louise Easterling, and his brother, Billy.

He was a devoted member of Lexington Presbyterian Church. Eric actively served with The Gideons International, passionate about sharing scripture, and was also a committed member of the Lions Club, always ready to help those in need. Eric leaves behind his beloved companion, Evelyn Christine Rabon, and their cherished pet, Buffy. He will be deeply missed by a loving family including Bryan and Crystal Rabon, and their children Jordan Paxton (21) and Gracelynd (10); Fred and Debbie Paxton; Fred and Lynn Motley; Juan Thompson; and Travis Mckie. His warmth, faith, and dedication to others were a blessing to all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in Eric’s memory to The Gideons International.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Thompson Funeral Home, Augusta Road. A graveside service with military honors and interment will follow at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

Eric's legacy of kindness and service, both to his country and his community, rooted in his steadfast faith, will be remembered always.
