Stephen Carl Hart passed away unexpectedly in Wichita Falls, Texas on April 24, 2025.  He was

born May 28, 1958, in Greeley, CO to Carl Elwood Hart and Iva Lee (Kent) Hart.  During his early life he lived in Gillette, Wyoming and on his grandparents’ ranch, The Oasis, in Grover, CO.   Later he moved to Ault, CO where he finished his schooling, graduating from Highland High School in 1976.

In February of 1979 Steve went to a square dance at UNC in Greeley with friends where he met Linda Eastin.  He was smitten and asked her out. They were married on December 14th of 1979. They had one daughter, Stephanie Lynn, who was born on Valentines Day, which was very fitting since she was born into the Hart family.

At the beginning of their life together, Steve worked as a diesel mechanic for his dad.  He later went to work at Highland Eggs where he delivered eggs to grocery stores and chickens to Kentucky Fried Chicken in Wyoming.  In 1984 he went to work hauling fuel for Agfinity (formerly Agland) which he did for over 30 years, first as a company driver, then eventually purchasing his own rig which he leased to them as an owner operator.  After his time with Agfinity, Steve then hauled aggregate products for several years at Hersh Trucking until their closure.  His career then took him back to the co-op where he hauled fuel for Poudre Valley Co-Op until his retirement in September 2023. He quickly decided full-time retirement was not for him and started his own Hot Shot Business where he enjoyed delivering trailers to many different states.

Steve loved his family and the fact that they were very close.  Stephanie married Jesse Thompson, and they had two beautiful daughters, Kaylee & Alexa.  He loved spending time with his granddaughters and attending their activities.  He was very proud of them and was a big presence at their musicals, cheer events, dance recitals and dance competitions. Steve would do anything for his girls, whether it was a late-night ice cream run or fixing a car, he definitely spoiled all three of them.

The entire family loved camping and 4-wheeling spending many hours in the mountains playing. Besides camping, the family had a passion for travel. Together they enjoyed cruising the world visiting places like Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal, New England, Australia & New Zealand.

Steve loved riding his Harley and even convinced Linda to get her own bike.  He also had a love of classic cars.   He spent many hours putting his cars together and sharing the hobby with other "car guys".    Countless hours were spent sitting at a car show, displaying his prized possessions. He passed that love on to Stephanie whose first car was a classic Mustang.

Steve is survived by Linda, his wife of 45 years, daughter Stephanie and husband Jesse Thompson, granddaughters Kaylee Marie and Alexa Lynn Thompson and grand dogs, Enzo and Rubble.  He is also survived by his mother-in-law Irene Eastin, stepmother Phoebe Hart, sisters-in-law, Karen (Gary) Evans and Vicki Franek, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Hart and Iva Lee Kent, grandmother Ruth Kent, sister Shari Anderson, father-in-law Dallas Eastin, brother-in-law Donald Franek and his “other family”, Glenn and Goldie Bottrell.
