Lorraine Frances Simas

Lorraine Frances Simas, 95, of Jackson, CA, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at Hospice House of San Joaquin Valley. 

Born in Santa Clara, California, on May 6, 1929, Lorraine was the eldest of four sisters and two brothers. She attended Santa Clara High School and married her childhood sweetheart, Richard Simas, in the summer of 1947. Lorraine moved with her husband Richard to Jackson, CA, in 1974, and became an integral part of the local community over the span of four decades. She was a very active member of her Catholic church, an early member, and past President of the YLI. She was an amazing seamstress, creating original dresses and costumes with relentless passion. Lorraine had a creative talent for sewing, crafting, crocheting, etc., even winning a ribbon at the county fair. Lorraine was also a member of the Jackson Claim Jumpers for several years. She also loved music, played in the marching band in school, and loved to listen to one of her favorite crooners, Dean Martin. Lorraine was a voracious reader and loved to read autobiographies.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Richard and her son Jim. She is survived by her daughter Maryann Simas, her sisters Linda Wagner (Mike) and Josephine Mullins, and her granddaughter Courtney Sheppard (Jonathan).
