Beers and Story - Palmer
John J Dyl
March 18th, 1932 - April 29th, 2025
John Dyl, 93 of Palmer, beloved husband of Irene Dyl passed away April 29, 2025. John was born in Chicopee Mass March 18, 1932, son of John and Helen (Banas) Dyl. John leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years Irene (Swist) Dyl, daughters Phyllis and her husband, David DuComb of Palmer, daughter Cynthia Dyl of Three Rivers, grandchildren Jacquelyn and her husband, Walter Johnson, Adam and his wife, Logan DuComb, Eric DuComb, Nicole and her husband, Travis Bonsant, and Michael Coyer. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Maddox and Beckett Johnson and Braydon Bonsant. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Stanley Dyl.
John graduated from Chicopee High school then went to serve his country proudly in the Korean War in the US Army. After discharge he went on to earn his Masters Degree in Education at AIC. John taught business courses at Stafford High School in Ct for 35 years and was the boys Basketball Coach. In the summer he served as the Director of the Summer Recreation Program for several years in Stafford then started the Summer Recreation Program in Palmer. He loved serving his community and was a Veteran's Agent in Palmer for many years. He was a member of the Palmer School Committee, Palmer Water Department, Palmer Rotary, Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce, St. Stan’s Polish Lyceum, PACC of Palmer, American Legion, Amvets, and Men’s Guild of Divine Mercy Parish.
John was passionate about his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his Polish heritage. He hosted the Jay Dee Polish Variety radio show for 45 years, just retiring this past June.
Our family would like to thank Chestnut Hill Rehab Center of East Longmeadow for taking such great care of him for the past few months. A special thank you to Bree, Tabatha, Frances and the entire PT department for lovingly watching over John.
Calling hours will be held at Beers & Story Funeral Home in Palmer on Monday, May 5 from 8:30-9:30 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at the Divine Mercy Parish, Main St, Three Rivers, Ma at 10am with burial and military honors at Sts Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in John’s memory may be made to the Divine Mercy Parish.
