Our dear Kelley

December 21, 1966 – April 28, 2025

Kelley’s mother said it best: she was a country girl at heart who loved the big city.  Fiercely independent, with an unmistakable “I got this” attitude, Kelley lived her life with style and a spirit that could not be matched.  She was strong willed (some might say stubborn).  Once her mind was made up, there was no talking her out of it.

A passionate lover of the arts, Kelley surrounded herself with beauty in all forms, curating an inspiring collection of artwork that reflected her bold and vibrant spirit.  Her insatiable love of books was matched only by the size of her impressive library.  As a proud member of the Opera Tampa Board, she brought her love of music and culture to life in her community.

Kelley’s sense of fashion was uniquely her own. She turned heads wherever she went with a style that was confident and unforgettable.  Pink wasn’t just a color to Kelley—it was a lifestyle.  If it came in pink, it was likely on her doorstep the next day. From her wardrobe to her garden tools.  Speaking of the latter, she had a passion for beautifying her yard even though some might say she “lacked” a green thumb.

She loved to entertain and plan great parties.  When her Fourth of July party ended, she was already making plans for her Labor Day party saying “Oh, and keep your calendar clear for my Birthday month”.  Backyard pool parties were a common summer event followed by stories by the firepit (which she proudly built).  As well as long standing tradition of hosting an annual outdoor showing of her favorite movie, Halloween.

She had a deep appreciation for life’s finer joys – travel, concerts, delicious meals and of course shopping.  Yet above all, her greatest happiness came from the time shared with family and friends.  Though petite in stature, her heart held a boundless love that knew no limits.  She embraced her loved ones with a warmth that was unwavering, fierce and everlasting.

Kelley was truly one of a kind – special to many, unique to all.  She lived with grace, humor, and an undeniable spark.  In short, she was, is, and will always be - “too sassy!”

In lieu of flowers, in memory of Kelley, please consider a donation to Humane Society of Tampa.
