Sonya Gail Chesmore Wainwright
With our hearts filled with sorry and eternal hope, we would like to announce the passing of Sonya after a long decline with dementia on April 27, 2025, peaceful surrounded by family in Tucson, Arizona. She will be dearly missed.
She was born March 31,1937 in Seattle Washington. Growing up in an Air Force family moved around to many places. She met a married Robert Wainwright, July 1956, also in the Air Force. Sonya lived the military life in many different states until they retired in 1976 and returned to Tucson.
Together they have five children and it was her passion raising and caring for them while supporting her husband’s career. She loved spending time with her family and always made herself available. She was a nurturer at heart. She also cared for her four brothers when she was growing up as if they were her own. She sold Avon for over 30 years and was an avid reader of novels. She loved knitting and crocheting blankets for loved one and donating lap blankets to the veterans and hospitals. She also loved to travel. She had a love of owls a large collection all over her home.
