Peggy Chambers, 73, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, sister, aunt and treasured friend.

Peggy was born on December 7, 1951, in Smith Center, Kansas, to Ivan and Alberta Tuxhorn. The middle of three children, Peggy naturally embraced a nurturing role, often taking care of her younger and older brothers from a young age. In 1961, the Tuxhorn family moved to Loveland, where Peggy later graduated from Loveland High School in 1970.

In the summer of 1969, Peggy met the love of her life, Dennis Chambers, at the Standard gas station in Berthoud. She always said Dennis won her heart with a single wink. They married on January 31, 1971, and built a beautiful life together, raising three children - Deana, Scott and Travis - settling in Berthoud. There, both Peggy and Dennis became deeply involved in their community, especially through their service with the Berthoud Fire Department.

Peggy was a dedicated member of the Fire Belles, an auxiliary group that supported the Fire Department. She played an essential role in organizing the department’s annual haunted house and provided countless home-cooked meals for firefighters during major emergency callouts. Her service was given with deep care, generosity, and a fierce sense of community.

A natural caregiver, Peggy ran an in-home daycare for years, treating every child as one of her own. She celebrated their birthdays, cheered them on through their milestones, and took immense pride in watching them grow. The children she cared for—and their families—remained forever close to her heart.

Peggy also found great joy in crocheting, a craft she lovingly practiced for decades. She made countless blankets, scarves, and keepsakes for family and friends. One of her greatest pleasures was teaching her granddaughters to crochet.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dennis, her parents Ivan and Alberta, her brother Johnny, and her in-laws LaRoy and Betty Chambers.

She is survived by her children Deana Chambers (Mike Grasseschi), Scott Chambers (Rachael), Travis Chambers (Katie); three grandchildren: Matt (Jamie), Shania (Kale), Kailee; and one great grandson Camron. She is also survived by her brother Larry Tuxhorn (Sharon); her sister-in-law Karry Casias (Roger); Brother-in-law Roy Chambers (Cindy); sister-in-law Margo Tuxhorn; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, daycare families and friends.

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud, Colorado.
