In Loving Memory of Dorothy Anne Gagnon
Dorothy peacefully passed away on the morning of April 14, 2025, at 9:25AM at the Life Care Center in Puyallup, Washington.
Born on December 12, 1934, in Duluth, Minnesota. Dorothy was the eldest of twelve children to Alfred and Dorothy Weinreich. From an early age, she carried a deep sense of responsibility and love for her siblings, a trait that defined her throughout her life. She attended both grade school and high school in her hometown of Tacoma.
Dorothy met the love of her life, Bill, and the two were married on April 16, 1955. Together, they were married for 62 years until Bill passed away in July 2017.
Dorothy is survived by her three sisters in California and two brothers in Las Vegas. As the eldest of twelve, she carried a deep sense of responsibility and cared for her siblings with devotion during their early years.
She and Bill were blessed with five children: Bill (married to Lisa), Kathy (married to Greg), Bruce (deceased), Karin, and Brian (deceased). She was a proud and doting grandmother to nine grandchildren, a proud great-grandmother to twenty-two, and was recently blessed to welcome two great-great-grandchildren into the world.
Throughout her life, Dorothy wore many hats—from her work at Western Union and Sears to her role as an in-home daycare—but it was in being a mother and grandmother that she found her greatest joy and purpose.
In her later years, she found joy in simple pleasures—her weekly visits to the Pine Cone café, sharing stories and laughter with dear friends, visits from family and keeping in touch with those she loved most. Her presence lit up every room, and her friendliness and humor left an imprint on every heart she touched.
Dorothy's life was a testament to the power of resilience and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Dorothy’s memorial service will be held at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Thursday, May 22nd at 9:00AM. Located at 7112 S. 12th St., Tacoma, WA 98465
She will be inurned with her husband, Bill at Tahoma National Cemetery for veterans.
