Rick (Ricky) Porter Perez of Goose Creek, SC passed away on Tuesday April 29, 2025, at 9:18p. He was 70 years young. He always said he was 39 but then he finally decided to go up to 58 a couple of years ago. He always said he was going to live forever. He had a heart attack on April 15, 2025, and was in ICU up until his passing. Due to no oxygen to the brain that led to significant brain damage we had to decide if Ricky would want to live out the rest of his days in a nursing home with tubes connected to help him breath and a Peg for nutrition. We all knew Ricky would not want to live out the rest of his days like that. He was always on the go. He always loved to travel! He was a human GPS! He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Columbia, SC. He went out to Las Vegas in the early 70's. He loved to tell the stories of his life out in Vegas! He worked in the Casinos at the Black Jack Tables for one and a few other tables. He worked as a room service waiter, and he was a cook. He loved to cook! He had the opportunity to meet several celebrities including, but not limited to Jack Klugman, Tony Orlando, Wayne Newton, Tom Jones and Elvis. He worked at Caesars Palace, The Flamingo and the Sands to name a few. After a while of working in the Casinos Ricky landed a job with one of the largest Roofing companies in Nevada. While he was working there, he fell off of a roof and broke his femur and had to learn to walk all over again. After he was up and able to move around more,, he went out to visit sister Debi in North Dakota. While he was there, he milked cows like a pro and helped with various other chores on the farm. He stayed a couple of months, but he said it was too cold for him out there! He moved back to SC to North Charleston to live with one of his sister's Sherry for a while. He went to work for Jimmy Pelham the owner of Coastal Roofing of Charleston, SC back in the early 90's. This roofing company played a significant role in rebuilding Charleston after Hurricane Hugo. Ricky was very proud to work for this company. He never missed any days working unless it was raining. He maintained this work ethic all through his life. He moved to Wilmington, NC in the late 90's and landed a job working for Baker Roofing. He loved Roofing! He made many lifelong friends at this company too. His friends there affectionately called him various nick names like Pretty Man, Rubber daddy (because he was an expert rubber roofing specialist) Tricky Ricky and Wild Thing Rick to name a few. (I found out while Ricky was in ICU that one of the Doctor's in his care the night, he arrived named him "Pretty Ricky".) While he was NC, he met a special lady around 2010, and they fell in love on the beach. Ricky called me the night he met her and told me all about her and how he met her. I was so happy for my brother. (He always called me from Vegas when he met a special lady and would tell me all about them and wanted me to sing to them on the phone. He called many times from Vegas asking me to sing for his friends.) They had a few cats they named Dakota, Nevada and Cheyenne. He retired from Baker Roofing in 2021 after working for them for 25 years. He decided to move back to Goose Creek, SC to live with his sister Sherry in 2023. He was always on the go and met many friends in the area. He enjoyed going up to the local pub once or twice a month early in the evening for conversation and listening to Karaoke. That was one of the things he loved to do and looked forward to it every month! Ricky loved beach music especially The Tams. He loved Tone Loc's song Wild Thing released in 1988 and Funky Cold Medina to mention just a few! He loved the Warrior Song that he put to many pictures and videos he shared on social media too. He loved all animals! He loved giving snacks to my dogs Rocky and Bruser (too many lol). He also enjoyed giving all his friends dogs snacks. He loved being outside with nature! Ricky enjoyed working with charcoal pencils and drawing animals like Tigers and drawing Jesus and Angels to name a few. He was very good at it! He will be missed by his family that is left behind with beautiful and fun memories. His sister Debi Biffert, Dickinson, ND, Sherry Hartley Bullard, Goose Creek, SC, Norman Sibley, Nicholas Denver Sibley, Piedmont Oklahoma, Teresa Ann Smith, Julie Lorene Arp. He is predeased by his brothers Anthony (Tony) Allen, Bruce Sibley and sister Dottie Hartley. He will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, his dear friend Greg Berry who was like a brother to him and other friendships he made in this local area. Everyone is missing him around here! Until we all meet again up yonder! We love you! You'll always be "Pretty Man" to us!
