This is written about one who lived, 

 

Al Becchetti passed away April 24, 2025 at the age of 99. He was born in Dawson, NM January 7, 1926. 

 

He is survived by his son, Mark Albert Becchetti, his dear friends, Mary Deay Reusch, and Donna Sweet, his niece, Mary Rose Vincioni, his nephew, Joseph Corazzi (Betty), his great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

 

He was predeceased by his parents Dominic Becchetti and Beatrice Persicone Becchetti, half brothers Jim Manfredi, Frank Manfredi, half sister Mary Manfredi Rigoni, Carrie Manfredi Corazzi and his beloved wife Arizelia R. Bishop Becchetti.  

 

Albert attended Raton High school. After graduation he was inducted into the US Army during World War II. After basic training he was assigned the 5th infantry division attached to General Patton’s 3rd Army division.  His recon platoon saw combat in France, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, and Czechoslovakia. He received numerous medals including the bronze star, combat infantry badge and two battles stars for the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. After discharge he attended the University of New Mexico where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1950. 

 

After graduation he met the love of his life, Arizelia (Arzie) Bishop. They were married at St. Patrick’s Church in Raton, New Mexico September 1, 1951. They were blessed with a son, Mark Albert. Al’s career began with the US government at San Angelo Cadet Training Academy base in Texas as a supervising illustrator. He transferred to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado as art director of the audio visual department. They provided the faculty, staff, and student body with text material and course studies. He served as principle consultant and advisor on Graphic Arts, illustration, displays and brochures in support of all Academy functions. He completed his last years of Government service at White Sands Proving grounds. 

 

He was an avid Senior Olympian for 30 years where he received medals and ribbons is track and field, golf and team sports. He and his wife were members of Mesilla Valley Sams RV club and enjoyed many camping trips with their friends. 

Other interest included backpacking, cross country skiing, fishing, painting and just being with friends and beloved family.  

 

Do not grieve for him but instead, celebrate life for it is so precious. His tale is finished, and so farewell. He has fought the good fight and finished the course.  

Cremation has taken place at his request. 

 

Military burial and service will be held in Raton, New Mexico at a date to be determined.
