Nancye C. Burgess

Nancye Lane Burgess, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died peacefully at Beach House Assisted Living & Memory Care in Wesley Chapel, Florida on May 1, 2025.  Nancye and her husband Robert L. Burgess( “Bob”) (deceased) met while both were serving in the United States Air Force, Hamilton Air Force Base, California.  They were married in 1953 and Nancye became a military wife for 17 years.  During this time, the family lived in various states and two foreign countries.  Nancye was devoted to serving her country, both in active duty and as a military wife.  She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lercie and Lovella Lane.  She was one of thirteen siblings and is preceded in death by eight of the siblings.  She is survived by four of her siblings, Dan Lane (Varee), Peggy Henley (Lee), Laura Freeland, Frank Lane (Linda) and her beloved brother-in-law Willard (“Bill”) Bishop; and, two daughters, Karen Randall (Randy) and Sandra Fentress.  Nancye has seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.  Nancye will be greatly missed by her extended family and many friends and neighbors; and her daughters will forever hold her dear.  Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in honor of Nancye be made to Tunnel to Towers or Wounded Warriors Project.
