Marvin Powell Cates was born June 9, 1948 and died on April 16, 2025 at home surrounded by loved ones.
Marvin loved sharing time with friends over coffee, telling jokes, laughing and cherishing time with his grandchildren.
Marvin was proceeded in death by his Father Pal Eugene Cates, Mother Dorothy Miller, Brothers Andy Cates, Ronald Cates, Joe Cates. His Sisters Vimmie Ray, and Donna Meskimen, and his Grandson Devon Luke Cates.
He is survived by his Children Marvin Powell Cates Jr., Carleen Tafoya, (Rudy Tafoya), Crystal Cates-Alvillar(Roger Alvillar); Grandchildren Mason Cates, Damien Cates (Zoe Cates), Anthony Tafoya, Lauren Gabbert, Kayla Alvillar, Jade Alvillar, Ellis Alvillar, Harmony Serrano, Melody Serrano, Roderick Thomson, Emilio Thomson, Hunter Savage, Christopher Cates (Rachel) And a great grandson James. Marvin will be remembered for his kindness and helpfulness. He would give anyone in need his last dollar.
Marvin Powell Cates will be laid to rest in Santa Fe National Cemetery on May 5, 2025 at 2:00pm.
