Michael "Mack" Anthony Christopher Kithcart
1981 - 2025
Michael Anthony Christopher Kithcart (Mack) of Longmont, Colorado passed away at his home April 20, 2025 at the age of 43. Mack was born October 27,1981 to Denise and Larry Kithcart at Fort Benning, Ga. He is survived by his son, Tyler, his daughter, Rylynn, his Mother and Father, his brother Eric and wife Kate, sisters Michelle Martin and Angela Fountain. He is preceded in death by his youngest brother, Brant.
Mack was naturally athletic. He could throw a baseball "spot on" before he could walk. He played Little League Baseball from age 5 until age 12. He began pitching at age 7 and also played first base. Not surprising to his parents, his batting average was .500 to .833! Once he entered Greeley Central High School, he hung up his baseball glove and cleats and turned to track & field. He ran a leg in relays, but his new love was pole vaulting. He graduated from Greeley Central in 2000.
He joined the Army in July 2000. He graduated Ranger School just after 9/11. His Ranger Unit was the first to be deployed. He served 3 Tours in the War. Mack was one of four Rangers who used the Javelin, a handheld anti-armor missile system, during operations in Iraq. They spoke about their experiences and the effectiveness of the Javelin in combat. The article was published in the Army News Service, August 11,2003. Mack left the Army in 2004.
Once he returned home, he attended UNC. He graduated with Honors from UNC in 2011 with a Masters in Psychology. He went to work at the Boulder Vet Center counseling soldiers and their family members. Mack missed his athletic activities and soon started doing Triathlons in Northern Colorado. It wasn't long before he graduated to competing in Ironman competitions. He traveled all over, meeting up with other Rangers who were competing as well. The older he got, the Ironman competitions were getting more difficult. At the time of his death, he was entering bowling tournaments and doing quite well. He had hopes of becoming a Pro Bowler soon.
A Service and Burial will be Tuesday, May 13,2025 at 1300, Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, Colorado.
