Ronald William Meyer
September 25th, 1942 - March 7th, 2025
Ronald William Meyer died peacefully with his son Brandon by his side on March 7th, 2025. Ron was born on September 25, 1942 in Monroe County, Illinois. He attended Normandy High School and while there, excelled in football and track, winning the state title in the 880 yard run his senior year.
He then attended the University if Missouri, Colombia where he graduated in 1964 with a degree in Education. Ron was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 where he earned the rank of Lieutenant and was deployed to Vietnam. Shortly after his arrival, he was wounded in action and returned to the United States for an 11 month recovery period at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital, subsequently receiving the Purple Heart.
He worked as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 23 years, the majority in Las Vegas, until his retirement. He moved on to Corporate Security for Caesar's and Hilton Gaming for several years thereafter.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dianne Meyer, ex-wife Jan Meyer, father Glenn (Mildred) Meyer and mother Dorothy (Ed) Suter.
He is survived by his son Brandon (Karen) Meyer, step daughter Erin (Scott) Rhode, grandchildren Kye, Chase, and Ally Rhode, brother Greg (Kathy) Meyer, step son-in-law Scott Rueber and step daughter-in-law Shelli (Brad) Cottrell, step grandchildren Colin, Grant, and Mason Cottrell, and nieces Rebecca and Kelly Meyer.
A private burial will take place on May 9, 2025 in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetary
