William Pete Carter
September 7th, 1943 - May 3rd, 2025
William "Pete" Carter, 81, of Fruitland, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2025. Pete was born on September 7, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, to Bessie Marie Lake and James Wesley Peeling. He lived a full and meaningful life marked by deep dedication to family, faith, and the simple joys of life, especially fishing.
Pete married the love of his life, Helen, on July 29, 1992, after meeting her at a church singles dance in Boise. Their union was a joyful blending of families and hearts. His memory lives on through his seven children: Adam Carter, Allison Robinson, Charlotte Newman, Emily Wenham, Rachel Hawker, Rebecca Carter, and Scotia Atkisson.
He was also a proud stepfather to Todd Packer, Jennifer Schmaltz, Sarah Stepp, JaNell Oakes, and Tina Fitzgerald.
Pete had an impressive knack and passion for genealogy. When he wasn't tracing family roots, he could often be found casting a line into a quiet river or lake.
Fishing wasn't just a hobby for Pete it was a way to combine the two loves of his life: fishing and spending time with his wife.
He will be remembered for his warm smile, strong faith, youthful spirit, and young-at-heart attitude.
The family is currently making plans for a memorial service.
