The nicest guy you would ever meet

Arthur L Hewitt, an avid outdoorsman and devoted father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 14th, 2025, at his home in Golden. Arthur, a lifelong resident of Colorado, was born in Colorado Springs on May 11, 1940, to Kenneth and Evelyn Hewitt.

Art was one of eight children. He joined the Army in 1963 and was deployed to Germany where he met his future wife. After being discharged and returning home he sent for Marianne. They were married soon after and had two daughters.

Art worked as a carpenter until his retirement. He loved hiking, fishing, and traveling, which he instilled in his girls. A fishing trip to Alaska with Marianne was one of his treasured memories and he enjoyed traveling back and forth to Germany after leaving the service. Art spent a lot of time with his grandchildren as well, always being the attentive grandparent any child could hope for. He was known for his sense of humor and willingness to help a friend or family member when needed.

Art is survived by his daughters Marilyn and Sandra, his grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as Marianne, who remained by his side as his friend and guardian until the end. He is also survived by two brothers, Herbert and Russell Hewitt.

A memorial service will be held this summer July 12th, 2025 at 2pm. In the Aspen Mortuaries Chapel 1350 Simms St, Lakewood, CO 80401.
