Archie Nelson Buchanan, Jr

Archie Nelson Buchanan Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, following a brief stay at the E.W. & Lucille Cates House in Ocala.A proud fourth-generation Floridian, Archie was born in Ocala on September 12, 1938. He graduated from Forest High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy. After his service, Archie began a nearly 40-year career with Honeywell International, which took him and his family to cities including Chicago, Atlanta, and Houston.Upon retirement, Archie returned home—quite literally—to the house his parents built in Ocala. After the passing of his beloved first wife, Susan, in 2009, Archie found renewed joy and companionship with his second wife, Emelina Figueroa, who survives him.Archie is also survived by his two children: John of Kingwood, TX, and Philip (Alex) of Pumpkintown, SC; three stepchildren: Robert Jimenez (Cheryl) of The Villages, FL; Michelle Ramputi of Ocala, FL; and Jennifer Evans (Brian) of Ocala, FL; along with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Susan and their infant daughter, Karen.Archie will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and stepfather, and a kind-hearted man who left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.A gathering to celebrate Archie’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on May 9, 2025, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 9696 SW 110th Street, Ocala, FL.
