Wayland (Bill) Engels
December 1st, 1922 - April 30th, 2025
Wayland (Bill) Engels, 102, of Boise Idaho passed away April 30, 2025 at the VA Willow Creek Hospice in Boise of natural causes. He was born December 1, 1922 to parents Martin and Rowena Engels. He graduated from Fond Du Lac High School, Wisconsin on June 5th 1941. After graduation he made his way to San Diego then on to Seattle Washington. There, at Boeings, he would meet his future wife, Hazel Sherrill. They were married February 5, 1943. In 1944 he was drafted into the Army Air Force and served flying missions over Germany until 1946. Afterwards here turned to Boise and had numerous jobs working in the coin operated music business (jukeboxes, pin balls) He is survived by his daughter Sharon Behrman (Dale) and son Don Reed of the Philippines, 12 grand children, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, sons Ron Engels and David E. Reed. Services will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery May 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM. A gathering of friends and family will follow at Idaho Pizza, 6724 N. Glenwood St., Garden City. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Home. In leu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to your favorite charity.
