John W Zewiske
June 3rd, 1942 - May 5th, 2025
John W. Zewiske passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Wayne and Marie Zewiske (née Lally), John lived a life marked by dedication to family and friends, service, compassion, passion, and devotion.
A proud Veteran of the United States Army, John continued a lifetime of service in healthcare, with over 40 years of experience. He proudly served as a nurse manager and public affairs officer for over 30 years and then retired from the Clement J Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 2007. His care and dedication touched countless lives, especially among fellow Veterans whom he served with honor and humility.
John had a deep passion for aviation, trains, large ships, and a heart rooted in his faith and his church community. He found joy in the simple but meaningful pleasures of life—gardening, photography, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
He is lovingly remembered by his four children: Christopher J. (Jennifer) Zewiske of Minneapolis, MN; Joseph P. (Nancy) Zewiske of Eagle, WI; Ann Marie (Ola) Bildtsen of Roseville, MN; and Wayne E. Zewiske of Luverne, MN; and 9 grandchildren, brother; Dennis Zewiske of Marietta Georgia He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished faithful friends.
John was preceded in death by his wife Susan, and his parents Wayne and Marie. He now joins them in eternal peace.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2011 N Oakland Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
