Patricia Yukimi Ide Don
December 8th, 1948 - April 25th, 2025
Patricia Yukimi Ide Don was born in Berkeley, California on December 8, 1948. She sadly passed away at home on April 25, 2025.
In 1950 the Ide family moved to Lafayette from Walnut Creek, California. Her parents established Harry’s Nursery on Mt. Diablo Blvd. The family lived on the back of the property in an 800 square foot home where she and her 3 sisters lived until the family could afford to move to a Johnson Clark built home 2 hills behind the nursery. She was the third child who attended Lafayette grammar school, Stanley Intermediate and Acalanes High School. At Acalanes, she was an exemplary student with a high IQ and was a member of California Scholarship Federation (CSF), Spanish Honorary Society and American Field Service (AFS) for all four years, and the recipient of the Bank of America Award in Mathematics. She took advanced math courses and Great Books, which today would be AP courses. She also was Senior Class Secretary, in A Capella Choir and Modern Dance Group 3 years. After high school she attended the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in Biology and received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of the Pacific where she met her husband, Larry Don.
Patricia and Larry lived and worked in San Mateo and San Carlos after marrying and moved to Moraga in 1976. Larry worked as the manager of the Rossmoor pharmacy and Patricia worked at Long’s pharmacy in Moraga, now CVS. She also worked for the State of California for the Department of Health in the Department of Health as Medical Consultant (Pharmacist) and expert witness. She was a loving, supportive mother to her two sons and gave them every opportunity she could. We will greatly miss her tender heart, sweet nature and strong moral character.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Larry, of 53 years, her sons Christopher Gong Ide-Don (Rachael) of Davis, CA and Jonathan Masaji Ide-Don (Jenny), her grandchildren, Ryan and Dylan of Seattle, WA, two sisters, Tokiko Noricks of Las Vegas and Dawn Ide Eames (Patrick) of Moraga and 12 loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Sachimi (Larry) of Los Angeles.
Private services are planned. In lieu of flowers, Patricia and family request donations in her name be made to the Oakland Buddhist Church
