Daniel D. Wagner
July 25th, 1938 - January 7th, 2021
Daniel "Dan” Wagner, 82, of Keenesburg, Colorado, passed away with family by his side on January 7, 2021 in Brighton, Colorado. Dan was born in Brush, Colorado to George and Clara (Ring) Wagner on July 25, 1938. His family moved to Gilcrest, Colorado when he was a young teen. He attended the Ione School in Gilcrest and often helped to teach younger students. He then attended and graduated from Fort Lupton High School. In school he was active in football and choir and was a member of the National Honor Society. His high school friends described him as a "gentle giant” and a bit of a prankster. Dan was always involved in farming. As a young boy, he enjoyed working with his dad and the teams of horses that his dad trained. He helped on the family farm and with their dairy. Upon graduation from high school, Dan worked for various family members on their farms, including his soon to be father in law, Fred Kissler. On January 19, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Margaret (Kissler). In 1972, Dan and Margaret purchased the dairy herd from her father and moved to their own farm in Keenesburg, Colorado. Dan was very involved with his children and grandchildren and could often be found attending sporting events, dance recitals and choir and band performances. He loved being a grandpa and spoiling his grandchildren. One of his favorite things was to hold his sleeping grandchildren during nap time. He was a member of the community choir and sang in many Easter and Christmas performances. He spent his later years caring for his wife Margaret who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease. Dan was a loving and caring man that will be missed by all who knew him. Dan is survived by his wife; children, Chris (Bridgette) Wagner, Brad (Elaine) Wagner, Renee (Todd) Perkins, and Elizabeth (Adam) Francis; son-in-law Steve Sopata; grandchildren, Dustin (Rachel) Coffelt, Cheyenne (Nick) Wagner, Steven Sopata Jr, Jennifer (Jarrod) Oliver, Rachel (Alex) Rydgren, Ryan Perkins, Braydon Francis and Breanya Francis; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (Bob) Rash; and a large loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dawn ‘Dani’ Wagner; granddaughter, Jaclyn ‘Brea’ Wagner; brother, Robert Wagner; and sister, Virginia Chapman. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer of 2021.
